Cosmetic enhancement by a plastic surgeon can be accomplished by surgical procedures as well as non-surgical rejuvenating procedures. Communicating your greatest concerns to your doctor will determine which procedure will be best for you. It is our goal to give you an exceptional result.
All the treatments listed above are non-surgical methods used to rejuvenate the skin. Although they are not permanent, these treatments can considerably reduce the appearance of lines, creases, and wrinkles, as well as correct uneven skin tones and hyperpigmentation (or age spots). Call for a consultation to determine which treatment would give you the desired effect.

Our Sciton laser can be used for photo rejuvenation of the skin with intense pulsed broadband light waves (BBL), a technology that uses specific wavelengths of light and filters to treat a variety of skin problems. Relying on pulsed light that heats up the upper layers of skin, photo rejuvenation stimulates skin cells to generate new collagen in the areas targeted with the laser.
Broadband light therapy is one of the best treatments available for rosacea and skin redness. In addition, it is effective at treating sun-damaged skin and conditions related to uneven pigmentation, including age spots, freckles, brown or red spots, port wine stains and birth marks, erythema, and hyperpigmentation.
Photo rejuvenation also minimizes fine wrinkles and shrinks visible blood vessels and enlarged pores. Some skin diseases, including pre-cancerous lesions and superficial basal cell carcinoma, can be treated with photo rejuvenation in conjunction with light sensitizing medicines. Moderate acne in teenagers as well as adults can also be effectively treated with broadband light therapy in combination with Levulan® (Dusa Pharmaceuticals). This regimen, paired with topical skincare agents can replace the use of Accutane in some acne patients.
No anesthetic is needed for our BBL light treatments, and there should be little or no discomfort. No downtime is associated with this gentle procedure beyond the initial redness that disappears within a few hours. Addition of the photosensitizing agent Levulan to the BBL treatment enhances results, but typically requires a topical anesthetic, 48 hours of sun avoidance, and three to seven days of redness. You should be ready to apply make-up and resume normal activities (except when Levulan is used) on the same day as your treatment. If deeply pigmented areas are treated, they may become darker at first, but they will soon fade and flake off.
Treatments may be repeated at 2-4 week intervals, and the number of sessions depends on your skin and goals. Most patients have two to five treatments to achieve the results they want. After photo rejuvenation, your skin will feel smoother, fine wrinkles and pores will be less noticeable, and redness, flushing, uneven pigmentation, and visible veins will fade.
Our Skin Care Center carries scientifically formulated skin care products, such as those manufactured by La Roche-Posay, SkinCeuticals, and our exclusive physician formulated line Skin Saint Croix, many of which are available by prescription only. Although products sold in stores or spas may have some of the same ingredients as those we carry, they do not have these ingredients in the concentrations or forms needed to be clinically effective.
Cosmetics That Are Good For Your Skin
As part of our skin care products and services, Saint Croix Plastic Surgery & MediSpa carries the glominerals™ make-up collection, which has been specially formulated for skin care professionals and plastic surgeons. These products combine pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, natural high-pigment minerals, and antioxidants to create cosmetics that are actually good for your skin.
The ingredients of these cosmetics include micronized minerals for superior coverage, UVA and UVB protection from the sun, and antioxidants that prevent free-radical damage and improve the skin’s health and condition. The make-up base formulations contain no perfumes or chemical dyes, so women with sensitive or allergic skin can use glominerals products without fear of reaction. The glominerals cosmetics are non-comedogenic so your skin can breathe and bacteria is less likely to become trapped in pores.
Glominerals cosmetics give superior and long-lasting coverage without looking artificial or feeling heavy. Women with acne, rosacea, or hyperpigmentation especially appreciate this feature. We recommend glominerals for camouflaging redness after facial surgery or skin resurfacing procedures because the coverage is continual and the ingredients are good for the skin.
Even if you don’t need a make-up for superior coverage, you will love the way glominerals feel and the color palettes available. There is nothing better for your skin’s health available in over-the-counter cosmetics.
